Upcoming BMW Lets You Stand Outside The Car While Parking It
Very soon, you will be able to park your car without you being in the back of the wheel thanks to BMW.
BMW’s forthcoming 7 Series will be able to maneuver into parking spots without you necessarily being behind the wheel. The driver will be able to navigate the control of the car while standing outside the vehicle by using what BMW calls a key fob. The key fob combines an LCD screen and a remote control and it will enable the driver to guide the car in and out of parking spots which are tight as well as out of your garage.
Gizmodo is reporting that the design of BMW’s 7 Series is yet to be unveiled. In addition to that the release date for the car has also not yet been stated.
BMW is not the only car which is working on cars that can be able to park themselves. According to reports, Mercedes-Benz is also working on a similar project which it is calling “active parking assist.” Unlike the BMW parking mechanism, owners of Mercedes-Benz will be required to stay inside the car so as to navigate the cars accelerator and brake pedal.
Although the BMW 7 Series is not a driverless car, many believe that BMW will once again be pitted against Tesla which recently announced that it will be rolling out self-driving software for its cars. The software will free up drivers who are on long commutes in major highways. In addition to that Tesla is working on equipping its Model x sports cars with the auto pilot feature.
Speaking about the feature, Tesla’s CEO, Elon Musk said that, “We can basically go between San Francisco and Seattle without the driver doing anything.”
