Sirius XM and AT & T Are Connecting More Cars, News and Old

The New York Auto Show which went down over the weekend gave out a sneak peek to some spectacular cars. In addition to the cars the event showed that there is an increase in the number of car manufacturers who are using technology so as to ensure that their cars are more secure and that they are more connected. That said Nissan’s 2016 Maxima launched with new Sirius XM-powered Nissan Connect Services that enables the car to link up with the network by satellite, or even paired cellphone or even its inbuilt cellphone connection.

Back in 2013, Nissan made an announcement that it was working with AT&T on the project and that AT&T will be working on launching a new Car Connection plug in that will enable any person to use similar features on their cars. The same plug in car connection that AT&T has been working on is similar to the link that makes it possible for Tesla’s S Model to connect to the cloud as well as downloading performance-enhancing OTA updates.

Currently Nissan has its own connected features which make it possible for its cars to connect to Google search and traffic. That said, the new services will give it a little more age to top of the line Platinum model Maximas when they begin shipping them later this year.

At the base level of the car there is a Stolen Vehicle locator as well as an Automatic Collision Notification and maintenance reminders and messaging. Once you upgrade to the premium package you will be able to have remote control over the vehicle to unlock or lock the doors as well as starting the engine.
