Maruti Suzuki and Its Revolution All Over The World.
Maruti has always been a household name in the Indian automobile market. We of course remember the ads where kids made the campaign for the company, and they did their job so well! The job was easy; they were after all selling the most trusted brand of cars! Year of entry: Maruti Suzuki, as we know it today, started as Maruti Udyog Limited way back in 1981. It was originally a government shareholding with the Japanese manufacturer Suzuki, but eventually the Indian government sold off its shares in the company. India’s first affordable car, the Maruti 800, was an endowment of this great company. At a time, when the Hindustan Ambassador and the Premier Padmini were dominating the Indian markets, this company dared to venture into the market. It is now a subsidiary of the Japanese carmaker Suzuki, and the head office is now located out of New Delhi, in India.
The company took everyone by surprise, when the SS80 Suzuki Alto based Maruti 800 was launched into the Indian automobile market. The Maruti Van has been in the scene for so many years, it is difficult to imagine young children going to schools in any other van, and the Gypsy, it has been inspiring the young generation over so many years now. The company management has witnessed a few many changes in hands! There was heavy government holding in the company, and then there was liquidation, unrest amongst the labor; but eventually Suzuki triumphed as the clear victor in the cumbersome process holding a major stake in what turned into the Maruti Suzuki India Limited.
