Jaguar I-Pace Electric Crossover Best Rival Over Tesla

Luxury carmaker Jaguar Cars announced that it would introduce a new all-electric crossover to the US market in the second half of 2018. The Jaguar I-Pace would compete against Tesla in the premium electric vehicles market.

The new Jaguar electric SUV has good range, style, and power outputs. It can generate 398 horsepower with a 0 to 60 rating of 4.5 seconds. It has a top speed of 124 miles an hour. It comes with a 90 kWh battery. These numbers allow the I-Pace to compete against the Tesla Model X.

Jaguar expects the electric SUV to have an EPA rating of 240 miles. The electric battery uses Combined Charging System chargers that can charge the I-Pace from zero to 80 percent in about 40 minutes.

The Jaguar I-Pace is smaller than the size of the Model X. The former is 14 inches shorter, 7 inches narrower, and 4.7 inches lower than the Tesla Model X. Both models come with seating for five passengers, but the Model X has an option for a third row that will allow a maximum of seven passengers. The Model X also has a larger cargo capacity of 66 cubic feet compared to I-Pace’s 40.58 cubic feet.

Jaguar’s new electric SUV is less expensive than the Model X. I-Pace has a price tag of $69,500, which is $10,000 less than the base trim Model X. I-Pace has a longer range with 240 miles compared to Tesla Model X’s 237 miles.

When on the market for a luxury electric SUV, the Jaguar I-Pace and Model X are the only options today. They are almost similar that buyers will have a hard time to choose one over the other. However, its price makes the I-Pace more attractive than the Tesla Model X.
