Ford Motor Company, simply known as the Ford is an American multinational auto maker with headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. As the name suggests, the founder was Henry Ford and was founded on June 16, 1903. He was just 39 years old at that time and founded a company which went on to become one of the world’s largest and most profitable companies. It sells automobiles under the brand of Ford and luxurious ones under the Lincoln brand. Ford is also the proud owner of Brazilian SUV manufacturer, Troller and Australian performance car manufacturer FPV. Ford is especially known for Fordism, a method for large-scale manufacturing of cars through assembly lines and controlling the industrial work force. It is also the second largest US-based auto maker and the fifth largest in the world.
It has manufacturing operations across the world. It acquired the famous British sports car Aston Martin in 1989 but sold it in 2007 but retained a stake of 8%. Since 1908, it has produced trucks too. Ford Model TT was the first model in the range of trucks, followed by Model AA and Model BB and has also produced buses and tractors. It ventured into financial services through Ford Motor Credit Company and also sells automotive parts through the FoMoCo parts division under the brand name of Motorcraft brand name. it was deeply involved in most popular racing competition, Formula One for many years and provided its superb engines to a large number of teams.
